I'm excited to share this make for the release of the VAULT 1 COLLECTION by @tim_holtz & @sizzix. This box holds four cards that tell the story of a special friendship. The set of cards is a "limited edition," just like the friendship between the little chicken and the cute bunny. That brought me to the idea to combine the quote chips from idea-ology with the letters from VAULT HIPPITY HOP and let them tell their adventures as friends. I've used several different dies from the new release and mixed them together; let's go a bit more into the details of this make!
Don't ask me about the dimensions of this box, please, lol. I kinda eyeballed the whole thing. The hole, cut out from the wreath, and the size of the bunny and chicken should give you a good idea of how big your box needs to be.
The box is made from 4mm cardboard, covered with idea-ology backdrops, and then grunged up with distress crackle paste & distress oxide sprays. The lid stays on thanks to three magnets glued to Scrabble tiles, giving the right distance and a solid base.
On the lid of the box, I created the first scene between the bunny and the chicken. With the dimensional elements, it not only serves as a "headline" for the whole project but can also be displayed as a decorative piece in the room.
The friendship between the little bunny and the cute chicken is something really special. They couldn't be more different, yet they belong together. Just like the cards in the box, their friendship is a "limited edition." Their friendship exists only once in this world, and the cards in the box are too. Also, the number of cards in the box is limited to four.
This is the first card I've put together. I deliberately picked elements that I could repeat in a similar way on the other three cards. Like the layers of the moon, which show up again with other die cuts on the other cards too.
And I really wanted those two friends to be super fluffy because, to me, that's like a symbol of friendship. That's why I gave feathers to both the bunny and the chicken. I know, bunnies don't have feathers, but he's fluffy anyway, right? I think that's allowed, what do you think?
I'm always amazed at how the different sets from a release go so well together. Like, I put the star and heart from VAULT ROSETTES on two of my cards, and I think the wreath and flowers from VAULT FLORAL WREATH make the perfect combo.
The most fun I had with arranging the little flowers and other floral stuff. I started by coloring watercolor cardstock with distress spray stains and distress oxide sprays. Then, I cut out the botanical elements from it. I even put on some distress texture paste sparkle in places to intensify the colors, boost the contrast, and of course, because a friendship without a bit of glitter isn't a real friendship!
