I've never been this excited about a Halloween stamp and stencil release before! This collection includes everything from sketchy leaves and whimsical characters to vintage elements and wicked skulls. It's a perfect combination for creating autumnal and Halloween crafts!
For this set of three cards, I aimed to create a cozy autumn feeling with a touch of Halloween. I used distress mica stains and distress oxide sprays to create the backgrounds. Then, I applied distress grit paste glow through the new THS170 SPELLBOUND stencil. This paste amazes me because it absorbs colors from below while still glowing in the dark!
With distress oxide inks, I added extra details using the script stamp from CMS471 THE OBSCURE. I stamped the weed from the same set with black soot archival ink to give the leaves a background to stand out. I inked distress watercolor cardstock with distress oxide inks to create a nice base for stamping the leaves from CMS467 SKETCHY LEAVES. I embossed those leaves with distress embossing glaze. The bats are from MOONLIGHT, from the last Sizzix release.
To give my cards a touch of junk journal style, I stapled the leaves onto the cards after placing foam pads underneath to create depth. A few golden and black splatters & two additional layers beneath the cards for an intriguing frame and the autumn vibes were complete.
For this tag ring book, I envisioned a monochromatic style with only a few touches of neutral color. I used a total of five #8 distress tags as the base. Then I made my own collage paper by stamping like crazy to some tissue paper with black soot archival ink.. I adhered this paper to my tags, slightly crumpling it for some texture.
Next I added some distress texture paste black opaque with a pallette knife & some distress grit paste glow through the mini spellbound stencil.
Then I've gathered some scraps from my stash, stamped some of the CMS467 SKETCHY LEAVES to them and mixed them up with some lace & tiny pieces of fabric, some mummy cloth, some idea-ology ephemera snippets and some filmstrip ribbon to create a collage.
To create the focal point on each tag, I used the specimen frame die cut along with stamped scraps and the shattered windows from the idea-ology Halloween collection, which I colored with alcohol inks. The numbers and splatters on the specimen frame are embossed with white embossing powder.
For the side tabs on the tags, I used the quotes from CMS468 TINY FRIGHTS. The adorable creatures featured on the tags are also from that set. Lastly, I attached thin black feathers to the back of the tags. To hide the ends of the feathers I've backed each tag with a layer of black cardstock.
